On 15 October, I joined Tilburg University as Professor of competition law and economics. I will be a member of the Tilburg Law and Economics Centre (TILEC). TILEC is one of the two leading law and economics centres in the Netherlands (the other one being in Amsterdam ). It comprises an equal amount of lawyers and economists, including some very senior figures on both sides. The main areas of research include: (i) market design and institutional matters; (ii) competition policy and regulation; and (iii) corporate finance and governance. I joined Tilburg as it appeared to me as a model university. Small, well managed, and very focused on social sciences. The economics department is part of the top 5 in Europe (even number one in some rankings) and the law faculty is seen by many as number one in Holland. There is a strong strategy of internationalisation.
